Lincoln’s Sparrow 1 Very well seen by all participants; it stayed perched at close range for over 30 seconds, during which time it raised crown feathers and acted very “nervous”. We were able to scrutinize the fine streaking on the breast, the buff tones to the underparts, and the bill and body shape characteristics that separate the species from both Song and Swamp Sparrows.
