A two mile walk on (mostly) paved paths around the pond. In addition to the “usual suspects”, we are likely to see some of the fall warblers, plus possibly a few of the Weird Ducks that have started to arrive.

Arlington Reservoir

In the fall water levels are lowered creating good conditions for ducks and shorebirds. We will also visit the adjacent Lexington community farm. We will watch the fall migration rise and fall at a suburban park location,over the span of seven weeks: Warblers give way to sparrows. Easy walk near garden plots, along the Charles, and through woods. Waterproof shoes recommended. Canceled if steady rain. Portapotty available.

Hellcat at Parker River NWR

During the past few years the refuge has opened the dike to hiking during National Wildlife Refuge Week. We will plan to do that hike if the dike is again open this year. Otherwise we hike the boardwalk and normal dike area.

Fruitlands Museum, Harvard

We will look for fall migrants and resident birds. Expect to walk about 2 miles on trails through meadow and woods, with some steep sections.

BBC field trips are open to all participants. Unless otherwise stated, all trips are free to attend and do not need preregistration. You do not need to be a club member to attend, though we hope you will join.
