Celebrate the beginning of the Fall season by birding favorite patches, locally and beyond.

We will spend the morning walking 3-4 miles through fields, forests and wetlands looking for post-nesting birds and early migrants. Contact leader the night before in case of rain prediction. No restrooms are available. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.

We will walk along the Charles River Esplanade from the Longfellow Bridge upriver looking for birds on both land and water. Long Lake Park is a 180 acre parcel of Littleton conservation land. It hosts a variety of woodland and grassland habitats as well as undeveloped shoreline. We will walk about 2 miles of wooded trails and meadows looking for fall migrants and year round residents. No restroom facilities.

Due to expected wet weather conditions with wind driven rain this trip is cancelled.

This is often a great place for fall sparrows including Savannah, Field, White-crowned and Lincoln’s as well as other migrants and raptors. This will be a two-mile walk. A scope may be helpful if you are comfortable carrying one.

THIS TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SUNDAY OCTOBER 1 - A two mile walk on (mostly) paved paths around the pond. In addition to the “usual suspects”, we are likely to see some of the fall warblers, plus possibly a few of the Weird Ducks that have started to arrive.

We will be birding the Beach Loop, Quansett Trail, and Allen's Neck Trails of Allen's Pond Wildlife Sanctuary in search of migrant passerines in the thickets and ocean and marsh birds. Can be combined with Gooseberry Neck.
