Nighthawks at Minute Man NHP

Minute Man NHP - Brooks Village Brooks Village, Concord, MA, United States

We will begin with a pleasant one-mile walk on graded paths and boardwalks observing locally nesting species like Baltimore Oriole, Cedar Waxwing, Indigo Bunting, various flycatchers, and possibly some early fall migrants. Oxbow NWR, Harvard

We will walk about three miles on easy, leveled dirt paths while searching for migrant and late breeding songbirds. We will also look for late blooming wildflowers such as closed gentian with its unique deep blue-purple flowers. Rain cancels walk.

Pine Hill Grassland

We will spend the morning walking 3-4 miles through fields and forests mostly on a gravel road looking for post-nesting birds and early migrants. Contact leader the night before in case of rain prediction. No restrooms are available. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.

Plum Island

Beginners and those with limited mobility welcome. There is an entrance fee for Parker River NWR.

We will be looking for Shorebirds and Fall migrants. We will drive and walk to various places on the Refuge. Note that an entrance fee or pass is required.

Halibut Point State Park, Rockport

Beginners encouraged. A two-hour walk over easy to moderate trails in search of seasonal specialties. Boots advisable. Co-sponsored by DCR.

BBC field trips are open to all participants. Unless otherwise stated, all trips are free to attend and do not need preregistration. You do not need to be a club member to attend, though we hope you will join.
